[CLiCK Workshop & Halloween '06] Halloween & Dating goes Hand in Hand!

29th October 2006 - A full day of happenings!

RAC Temasek attempted something which we think has never been tried before in our zone: a dating workshop. In our case, it was "CLiCK: 23 Secrets to Approaching the Opposite Sex"!

Lead by singles expert Tylus Lim, the workshop aimed to teach people the most effective approach profile for dating, although the same information could also be used in work, business, or simply to make friends.

A big thank you goes out to the following members who were present that day with their guests to make it happen: Dennis Tan, Jayne Seet, Zeeshan, Sandra Neo, Takumi Kawamura and Farhana! And special thanks goes out to Tan Bingxian of RAC Republic Polytechnic for assisting us with logistics, and to speaker Tylus Lim for taking the time out to speak for us, and of course, our guests and participants who graced the event that made it the success that it was!

And so we went on to celebrate - afterall, it was Halloween! A number of RAC Temasek members decide to join the ghouls and wierdos of the night at Zouk to soak up the zombie-filled atmosphere! Please check out our video for more Halloween fun!

Well done, guys! This is indeed Temasek - HOO!

[Goodbye Shilpa]: Reminiscing Temasek

On the 20th October 2006, our extended guest and friend, Shilpa, left Singapore for home in Mumbai, India.

Just when none of us at RAC Temasek expected, Shilpa was suddenly notified by her boss that her project in Singapore is complete, and they could finally send her home.

The news came with mixed feelings for Shilpa, who was just getting used to Singapore. But we have no doubts that she relishes the opportunity to finally go home to her family, just in time for Diwali (the North Indian version of Deepavali).

Thank you for the great memories, Shilpa! We'll miss you and your constant companionship you've given us over the last 3 months!

Meanwhile, please check out a short video-clip of the memorable times we had!

Subtitles to the MovieClip

Through these wavering skies
I will fly to where you are

Since we've always been hanging out together
The space between us now has become too big
Waiting for your heartfelt response
Anyone would be lonely

If you're crying in the town I can't see
Even if I'm not by your side, my smile will still reach you

Through these wavering skies
I will fly to where you are

I can feel it, so close to me
The thought of meeting once more

Mid-Autumn Night's Dream: RAC Temasek @ Chinese Gardens!

Members of RAC Temask went out on a sight-seeing fellowship outing at the Chinese Gardens on 7th October, Saturday to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival.

The haze (PSI went up to 140) and the small turn-out hardly dampened the spirits. The gang, consisting of Kelly Lim, Forrest Chan, Olisa Molokwu and Dennis Tan from RAC Temasek, and fellow rotaractor friends Picasso and Jaslyn, President and member of RAC Marina City respectively, had a solid 2 hour of fun at the "7 wonders of the world"-themed gardens.

Hi-lights of the outing included the exhibits, an unexpected encounter with sexy belly-dancers, Olisa's first taste of Moon-cake, and a startling "discovery" about the Terra-Cotta soldiers of China. Please view the video above for more details!

The Journey to Sentosa: RAC Temasek goes to Sentosa!

Promotional Video of Project X-cHaNge, featuring the high-lights of Temasek-HOO!'s Sentosa trip

Yes, if you've seen the video above, we had an extended journey to Sentosa on Sunday, 1 October, 2006.

This special outing is part of an extended International Services project called X-cHaNge, organised jointly between our club and the Rotaract Club of Bombay West, represented by Shilpa Sehgal of Mumbai. Originally, we wanted to show Shilpa around at Sentosa. But as irony has it, most of our members at Temasek hasn't been to Sentosa for ages, so we weren't sure what we could expect on the resort island ourselves!

Present at the outing was Shilpa Sehgal, Sandra Neo, Charmaine Ho, Forrest Chan, Kelly Lim, Jinhui, and friends from India, Shindula and Manoj.

We started our journey at the cable cars at Harborfront, and made a detour to Mount Faber purely by mistake, before finally heading to Sentosa, but not before an impromptu and highly-appreciated tour around Mount Faber. We all had fun at the thrilling downhill luge rides, fine-dining & frisbee-throwing at the Palawan beach, 4D Magix movies and the newly enhanced Musical Fountains.

Good fun! Thank you all for coming along. You were all great company!

We have our sights for Go-Karting at Batam next!

RAC Temasek at the Oktoberfest!

From front to back: Jayne Seet (fore front), Shilpa Sehgal, Zeeshan, Olisa Molokwu

When word was sent out that help was needed to man game stalls at a local Oktoberfest, RAC Temasek members were rushing in to volunteer!

Jointly organised by the Rotary clubs of Tanglin, Queenstown, Singapore North, Bugis Junction, Singapore Centennial & Garden City, this was a local version of the popular german beer festival, held at the exclusive Tanglin Club on Friday 29th September, 2006.

The highlights of the evening includes an authentic German/Bavarian Feast coupled with music by an authentic German-Swiss-Austrian Country live band called "The Alpiners". This unique band is made up of 14 top executives, investment bankers, librarians and scientists (including 2 german rotarians) all working in Singapore who were brought together by their passion for playing in a brass band after office hours.

While the original volunteer from Temasek included 9 members, only 6 were required. Our lucky representatives were Jayne Seet, Forrest "the funman" Chan, Olisa Molokwu, Zeeshan, Kelly Lim and Shilpa Sehgal (representing RAC Bombay West).

Our team had fun manning a perculiar german hammering game and a ball throwing game. The food spread was amazing, including a sumptious apple strudel dish that was snapped up so quickly that Jayne, Olisa and Shilpa resorted to being content with only eating the cream - er no, custard.

Great fun! This event deserves a big Temasek -HOO!

"Here at the Oktoberfest, we've run out of apple strudel, so here's what Shilpa's decided to do..."
She's decided to have the cream alone, although she insists that it's custard so it's not so fattening. Jayne backs her up.

Fund Raising with SPADE: RAC Temasek as Mango Hawkers??

Back row, from Left to Right: Sunny, Kelly Lim, Kenny Nai, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Balaji Sadasivan, Caroline Phua, Jason
Front row, left to right: Forrest Chan, Shilpa Sehgal (representing RAC Bombay West), Sandra Neo, Dennis Tan

Yes, for one Sunday afternoon, RAC Temasek was invited to sell mangoes at a high-tea reception with the Singapore Pakistan Development Forum (SPADE).

The event, held on 20th August 2006, Sunday, at the Pyramid Club, was a celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Singapore, and the Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Paskitan. Distinguished guests included the Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Balaji Sadasivan, as well as the High Commissioners of Pakistan to Singapore.

Present as our Temasek-HOO! delegates are Kelly Lim, Sandra Neo, Forrest 'Fun-man' Chan, Dennis Tan, as well as guests including Julia Chong, Kenny Nai, and our fellow Rotaractor from Mumbai, Shilpa Sehgal (representing RAC Bombay West :) ).

Shilpa and Julia displaying "hope for the victims". Photos depict the post-quake conditions in Pakistan.

We were tasked to sell succulent mangoes from Pakistan to the guests, as an effort to raise funds for the victims of the recent earthquake in Pakistan. But selling mangoes was no easy tasks; we had to resort to a variety of 'strategies', from the simplest "taste and sell" technique of letting the guest try the mangoes before buying, to the wildly inconcievable idea of performing a dance for the guest when they buy a box of mangoes! (Club Services Director Forrest's promise of juggling mangoes to boost sales did not come through. Boo!)

And the results to our wild antics? Here was a post-event sms from Vice-President of SPADE, Frank to President of RAC Temasek, Kelly:

"Your guys n gals did good. More than 20 boxes of mangoes sold. Thanks alot. Pls pass on my appreciation to all your team. Frank"

Each box of mangoes sells for $40. That means we've helped raise $800 for the quake victims in an afternoon!

Well done guys! This event gets the RAC Temasek Stamp of approval! :)
